Laura Berube

Studio Owner, Physical Therapist & Pilates Instructor

With more than 20 years of experience as an orthopedic manual physical therapist, Laura founded Physio Pilates Studio, blending her deep clinical knowledge with her passion for wellness and functional movement. After years of working in a traditional clinic setting, she transitioned to a Pilates-focused approach to better empower her clients, offering them a supportive, personalized environment for health and recovery.

 

Laura specializes in treating individuals with scoliosis, osteoporosis, spine and disc pathologies, back and neck pain, hip dysfunction, and the unique needs of prenatal and post-partum women. Her approach is integrative, holistic, and client-centered, combining physical therapy techniques with Pilates principles to restore movement, reduce pain, and help clients take control of their health.

 

Laura strives to create a safe and encouraging atmosphere for every client, infusing each session with a wealth of knowledge, compassion, empathy, and sense of humor.

Christina Gardner Pilates instructor

Christina Gardner

Pilates Instructor

M.Ed., NCPT, RYT 500, PRYT, CYT

Christina is a comprehensively certified Pilates instructor (NCPT) and an experienced yoga teacher trained in Vinyasa, Yin, and Restorative yoga, as well as a certified children’s yoga teacher. With a background in education and a lifelong curiosity about the human body, she is a devoted student of anatomy, movement science, meditation, and wellness.

A mother of two, Christina discovered the profound healing potential of mindful movement through her own recovery from injuries and chronic pain. This personal journey fuels her passion for helping others move with greater ease, strength, and awareness.

Christina’s teaching style is compassionate, authentic, and engaging—blending traditional Pilates principles with insights from physical therapy, functional movement, and posture education, including the Gokhale Method. Her sessions are thoughtful and challenging, designed to integrate body, mind, and breath—guiding students to connect from skin to soul. Ever the lifelong learner, Christina continues to deepen her knowledge and weave new perspectives into her teaching, empowering her clients to make movement a meaningful part of everyday life.

Robin Marino 

Pilates Instructor

Robin’s love of movement began with ballet at age nine and led her to discover Pilates during a summer program at the North Carolina School of the Arts. She is a 600-hour comprehensive Pilates instructor certified in mat and all apparatus, with additional certifications in Exhale Core Fusion, Balletone, Bounce, and breathwork.

 

With over two decades of teaching experience, Robin brings a grounded, inspiring presence to every class, blending alignment, flow, and mindful movement. She lives in Newburyport with her husband and three children, where she continues to share her passion for movement, strength, and grace through her teaching.

Laurie Hayes

Pilates Instructor, OTR, CHT

Laurie Hayes, OTR, CHT is an Occupational Therapist and seasoned movement professional based in Newburyport, MA. She works with the Northeast Rehab Hospital Network and is a Certified Hand Therapist, bringing a strong rehabilitation lens to all of her movement instruction. With a career in the fitness industry spanning back to 1991, Laurie offers a rare blend of clinical expertise and mindful movement.

Laurie began teaching Pilates in 2000 and completed her full certification through STOTT Pilates in 2006. She was the former owner of Port Pilates Studio in Newburyport, where she taught and led the studio from 2006 through 2018. Her passion for education led her to become an Instructor Trainer for Matwork and Reformer in 2007. She later earned her Peak Pilates Level 1 certification in 2016 and completed a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in Yoga of Energy Flow. Her movement background also includes Level 1 Gyrokinesis and Gyrotonic training.

Known for her therapeutic, calming, consistent, and reliable approach, Laurie specializes in creating safe, effective exercise programs that support posture, mobility, and overall quality of life—particularly as the body ages. She is deeply committed to helping clients better understand their own bodies and move with confidence and ease.

Outside the studio, Laurie enjoys Pilates, yoga, hiking, running, paddleboarding, reading, and spending time with family and friends. A lifelong learner and proud North Shore local, she brings curiosity, compassion, and decades of experience to every session.
